Cornish family-run business takes advantage of desktop print service

Background

Established over 25 years ago, Newlands Farm Eggs is a family-run business based in Pensilva, Cornwall. The business has been proudly serving the southwest and beyond with a range of products that are packed with care every day at their local West country packing station.

The business was founded by Tina Lapthorne under the company name Country Lane Foods. Since then the business has grown considerably and naturally migrated in to new areas and regions. Recent years has seen the company re-brand in to Newlands Farm Eggs following an acquisition of the former Muller Wiseman milk bottling factory.

Situation

Tina from Newlands Farm Eggs first engaged with Key Digital in 2021 when they were testing the market for print devices. At the time, the business was using a shop-bought device producing around 10,000 impressions per month, made up of around 200 invoices per day plus other factory-related items. They had to manually order 4 cartridges and a replacement drum every month to ensure that the vital printing could still be done.

Tina’s hands-on approach in the business meant that her time was stretched across all parts of the business operations. Key Digital identified an opportunity to streamline the printing and documentation process within the business. Document Capture Pro was highlighted as a potential software package that would provide automation in the delivery note and invoicing process.

“Key Digital have been providing our managed print solution since 2021 and we have been very happy with the service and support we have received from them ever since. We currently have two Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C579 devices which get regular daily use but productivity is never interrupted. I look forward to working with Key Digital more in the future and would be happy to recommend their services.”

– Katie Lapthorne, Office Manager

Solution

A Managed Print Service was suggested in order to automate the consumables ordering, providing Tina with a time-saving. A more robust A4 mono desktop multifunction device was provided to replace the shop-bought device with one more suited to the high print volume.

Some years later during a 6-monthly Account Review meeting, Key Digital was introduced to Katie, Tina Lapthorne’s daughter. Colour printing was now a requirement so an additional device with colour-printing capability was provided, and as their printing use increased, the mono device was removed and a second colour desktop multifunction device was provided.
