Background
Farmhouse Biscuits is a family owned business that has been baking biscuits since 1962. The company prides themselves on being traditional, using old family recipes and traditional baking methods.
From a modest farmhouse in Lancashire, the company have grown to become one of the country’s largest premier biscuit manufacturers.
From the Head Office and manufacturing site in Nelson, Lancashire, they produce a range of biscuits including shortbread, indulgent chocolate covered biscuits, free-from biscuits and beautifully designed gift tins and tubes.
Situation
Farmhouse Biscuits approached Key Digital as they sought to modernise the current fleet of printers and photocopiers.
With 7 printers and photocopiers across different departments, the devices had been in place for a very long time, some upwards of 8 years.
Following a walkaround of the office space, it became evident that Farmhouse Biscuits and Key Digital had similar business values. Both companies strive for top quality customer service based on traditional ethics while providing products fit for the modern day.
Solution
Key Digital’s first solution was to provide a standardised print fleet for easy consumables management and familiar on-screen usability. The Epson Heat-Free range was chosen to align with Farmhouse Biscuits’ sustainability goals while maintaining efficiency.
3 x A4 multifunction devices and 5 x A3 multifunction print devices were installed across the site. This modern-day technology allows employees to print, copy and scan documents around the business while lowering energy use and waste.
The fleet of devices automatically report meter readings and consumable levels, allowing Key Digital’s automated ordering system to deliver consumables before they run out.
The Result
Since working with Key Digital to manage the print fleet, Farmhouse Biscuits has seen a large reduction in overhead costs. Staff productivity has also been boosted thanks to automated consumable ordering sending new cartridges before they are depleted. The large-sized ink cartridges mean that re-orders are few and far between keeping downtime to a minimum.
Staff are also benefiting from the change to modern Heat-Free technology. With no warm up time, staff no longer have to wait around for prints to be produced while the device heats up. The resulting energy and CO2 reduction will help Farmhouse Biscuits toward their sustainability goals.
