Background
Albany International is a leading developer and manufacturer of engineered components.
Albany International is headquartered in Rochester, New Hampshire, operates 23 facilities in 11 countries, employs approximately 4,000 people worldwide, and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
With a site in Bury, Lancashire, Machine Clothing, one of Albany International’s core businesses, is the world’s leading producer of custom-designed, consumable fabrics and process belts essential for the manufacture of all grades of paper products.
Situation
Albany International began its partnership with Key Digital in 2016 following the implementation of a fleet of multifunction print devices at the Bury site.
Key Digital has maintained a strong relationship with Albany International’s senior team, conducting regular Account Reviews with the IT Director based in Germany.
During an Account Review, it became apparent that additional IT support was required and Key Digital were nominated as a potential partner due to knowledge of the existing IT and network infrastructure.
Solution
It was agreed that a chosen member of Key Digital’s support team would appear on-site at Albany International’s Bury location once a week to provide assistance on IT equipment and network support.
Key Digital’s additional support provision would make contact with other IT leads at Albany International’s other sites around the world to assist in large scale projects as well as completing day-to-day requests of employees in Bury.
Over a number of years, the managed print fleet size has changed and Key Digital have adapted to Albany International’s ongoing business needs, maintaining appropriate provision of devices to match productivity requirements. The current fleet is made up of 10 devices across various locations at the Bury site.
The Result
The flexible nature of Key Digital’s IT support meant that Albany International would not have to recruit and train an additional part-time or full-time staff member.
Because of the type of agreement that Key Digital put in place, Albany International could choose to increase or decrease days required on site, depending on their business needs.
When major rollouts take place or training provision is required, more time could be assigned as additional days or hours. Similarly, quieter times could result in fewer days on-site being required, such as during holidays.
This level of flexibility provided Albany International the control that they need while Key Digital take responsibility for assigning appropriate personnel and delivering a top level of service.
