In January 2018, several Key Digital members gathered together to form a training programme that would have them race-ready in time for the Burnley 10K in July of that year – the scheme was titled ‘Desk to 10K’ with the aim of getting desk-bound employees onto their feet and increasing their fitness.
After last year’s success, the old team gathered back together and managed to recruit several more people along the way to race the Burnley 10K 2019 and on Sunday 21st July they all completed the challenge.
A big congratulations to Luke Noonan who led the way for Key Digital with a blistering time of 47:05. Another huge congratulations goes to Peter Emmonds, our oldest participant at 59 years old who had never run a day in his life before starting the Desk to 10K.
“It’s great that we’ve had even more people participating this year, and it was such a great feeling to see everyone crossing that finish line. It’s something that I would encourage every business to try running a similar programme”, says Andy Ratcliffe, Key Digital’s Managing Director.
Andy is no stranger to running, he is currently mid-way through his gargantuan 12in12 challenge, he’s running 12 marathons in 12 months raising money for the NSPCC. His current fundraising total is up to £731.20 – he is hoping to raise £1,000 by the end of the year. 7 marathons down, 5 to go!
